Congrats to every partners!
From 14 to 19 of November, NEMECH and MICC, center of excellence of the University of Florence, hosted a delegation from the Paraguayan Universidad Nacional de Itapùa and Universidad Nacional del Este for the UMETECH study tour program.
It was a great experience to enhance the Italian-Paraguay academic network and to meet the Paraguayan academic staff involved in the project’s program.
During the study tour, the University of Florence academic staff held a course on computer vision applied to cultural heritage, together with a practical workshop. In particular the participants had the chance to learn
basic and advanced computer vision techniques in order to develop a mobile application able to recognize and give information about objects surrounding the user. The course has also included a demo of the Cultural Heritage projects developed by the NEMECH staff and three lab sessions on SIFT feature matching, Convolutional Neural Networks and OpenCV on Android mobile devices.
There were also opportunities for socialization between the two cultures, experiences and knowledges (with great Italian food and wine).
From 13 to 17 of November, Lille IMT Douai hosted a delegation from the Universidad Nacional de Misiones and Universidad Provincial de Cordoba from Argentina for the UMETECH study tour program.
In this training context the students had the opportunity to attend 3D mesh processing frontal courses, become familiar with the virtual reality platform IRCICA and attend the presentation of Innovation Research in the Digital and Interactive Visual Environment.
Moreover, Argentine students have visited the city Of Lille enjoying its cultural riches.
Between 7 and 12 September 2017, colleagues from Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega and Universidad de Piura visited the Center for Advanced Research on New Materials, Products and Innovative Processes – CAMPUS, at University Politehnica of Bucharest, for a study and experience exchange tour. Firstly, during a joint, on-site and webinar framework, they pursue with investigating multimedia classification techniques.
The courses were complemented by visits at the research labs and with hands-on sessions for some real-world machine based applications. Through both fundamental and practical implementations, participants achieved engineering and research skills for developing high-tech cultural heritage applications, specific to each need. The visit tour concluded with an official reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Peru, where future cooperation was discussed and a cooperation agreement between the universities was signed.
The first course for the Administrative Manager training program given by Michele Valentino about the Project Management and Knowledge Sharing Application (PMKSA) will precede the last webinar courses for TRACK B (Multimedia classification by Bogdan Ionescu) and TRACK C (3D scan matching & registration by Mohamed Daoudi).
