3D SCAN MATCHING AND REGISTRATION (adv, onsite course IN LILLE) – 13-16 NOVEMBER 2017
Course objective: Learning principles for matching 3D data
Course contents: Matching algorithms; Iterative Closest Point algorithm, for the alignment of the cloud points; Point Cloud Library


Students will learn to design and process the data acquired with installed cameras and video cameras on drones, according to the most modern photogrammetric techniques.

The course will also address the following topics:

  • Characteristics of UAV systems suitable for photogrammetric and thematic documentation. Several sensors: rooms, cameras, lidar. flight plan design: technical aspects and regulations, optimal environmental conditions.
  • Processing and interpretation of data. 3D modeling: from point clouds to surface models. Import formats and management of point cloud. Triangulation algorithms. Layer management. Filters of selection and cleaning. Mode of mesh display models. Management texture. export formats.
  • Tools for viewing on site and on line models. 3D scanning systems for the archaeological survey, architectural and urban. Principles of operation and application areas of triangulation systems and distanziometrici.
  • Job workflow: from the survey design to graphics processing. Techniques alignment and referencing of data. 2D and 3D graphics processing.
